Updated every Sunday for the following weeks waste and recycling collections.
You can put all food and garden waste in the Green bin all year round.
Please tie up all rubbish and recycling sacks.
Do make sure recycling items are empty, clean and dry.
Please put your bin out by 7:00am on collection day.
Please ensure the bin lid is fully closed and the handle is pointing towards the roadside.
Return your bins to your property once emptied.
Please don’t put out your waste and recycling earlier than 5:00pm the day before your collection day.
If you are on a wheelie bin collection, don’t put loose items, or sacks out for collection, as it won’t be collected.
Your bins or sacks (if you have been allocated recycling sacks) should be put at the boundary of your property, or a point agreed by a waste officer.
Don't put the wrong items into your bin or sacks as they may not be collected.
Rinse out any food and drink containers before you put them into the blue bin or blue recycling sack.
Breakdown cardboard and place it inside the red lid bin or red recycling sack. If it is too big please take to your local Recycling Centre.
Think before you throw
Just because it looks recyclable, doesn’t mean it can be recycled in Milton Keynes, always check.
If in doubt, leave it out. Being a good recycler is as much about what you leave out of your recycling as what you put in. If you’re unsure about anything, check the MK council website or put it in your black wheelie bin or black sack.
No food or drink at all should ever go in your recycling. Rinse out containers as food and drink can ruin paper for recycling.
Make sure items are empty, clean and dry. Wet and dirty items can spoil other recycling while it is being processed.
Nothing else goes in your recycling. If you’re struggling with too much waste or aren’t sure how to recycle, get in touch with the MK Waste & Recycling Department and they can help.
